On Saturday, we took Baby Lude to his/her very first OSU football game. He/she will be born a BUCKEYE!! (We will even deliver at OSU Medical Center. Can't be born much more of a Buckeye Baby than that). We met Nate and his Dad, Rod, at Little Bar before the game. One of the workers brought a chair over to the table we were standing at. I guess if you can't drink you at least get to sit. OSU played Hawaii and ended up winning 38-0. This makes Mommy and Daddy happy because we haven't had the greatest track record watching games together in The Shoe. Hopefully our luck has changed now that we are both living back in Buckeye Land!
Mommy and Daddy can't wait to take Baby L to games! |
Baby Bump in front of The Shoe |
Beautiful day to be a Buckeye. |
Alumni band joined to make four script Ohios on the field at once. |
The addition of our 2014 Championship sign was unveiled at The Shoe. |
Joe and I had our anatomy ultrasound this morning. The OB loves my new lil baby bump. As soon as she started the exam our OB actually felt the baby kick the ultrasound wand. She thinks Joe should be able to feel baby kick in 3-4 weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is sooner as I have felt a huge difference in even the last week. ****UPDATE: Joe felt three kicks about 5 minutes after we published this blog post!! How exciting!!!**** Everything from the ultrasound looks great which is a huge relief. She walked us through all of the body parts and organs. We could see the spine, skull, femur, hands, feet, face, lips, and nose. She also pointed out the kidneys, stomach, and aorta (amongst other things). Our favorite part was watching the 4 lil chambers of the heart beating away. I wish we had video!! It was so awesome to see baby moving around, we could have watched all day. He/she moved into multiple positions throughout the exam and is apparently enjoying all of the extra space they have (for now!). It was also interesting to see where the head, hands, and feet were relative to my belly. Baby had his/her hands by their mouth when we first started looking but no thumb sucking that we could see. He/she also had their legs crossed and was just sitting back and relaxing. Baby also waved at Mommy and Daddy!!! And sorry y'all, we both turned our heads when she was taking any measurements close to the genitals...so it will remain a surprise come January!! It wasn't even tempting to know. We feel like this will be one of the greatest surprises to have on one of the most memorable days of our lives. Our OB said she likes to be surprised too, so she wasn't gonna go "digging" to see if it was a boy or girl. We never did ask if the answer was obvious when she scanned by.

I'll be honest...the sonograms are much harder to decipher than seeing everything in person on the ultrasound (with the added benefit of having a Dr there to explain and point). I have a posterior placenta. The baby is measuing 15 oz. which combined with all of the other measurements puts baby in the 82nd percentile! Baby L's femur measured in the 70th percentile (we're wondering if tall Lude genes are coming into play??). She says this is all great, but now I am slightly nervous I am gonna end up with a big baby haha! We shall see. Who knew tiny lil me would carry a baby measuring in the upper percentile?! Especially after measuring 6 days behind at the very first ultrasound!
After our appointment our OB suggested Joe and I go grab breakfast and eat outside at Katalina's since it was such a beautiful day. We took her advice and stuffed ourselves with delicious food!
We can't take credit for the cute owl...but we added a lil decoration of our own to the table. |
Daddy-To-Be :) Yes he is growing his beard... |
Our garage door has been acting up and when I headed home from breakfast today (Joe went to work) it would only open about a foot or so. Unfortunately the back sliding glass door has no key, and we had locked the front glass door which much to my surprise is apparently not the same lock as the regular door. At this point I am completely locked out and not happy about it so I called Joe who was in the process of calling our home warranty about the garage door. In the meantime baby and I somehow managed to squeeze under the garage door (which if my belly would have been one bit bigger I surely would not have made it) and we were able to get into the house. Can you imagine if I had gotten stuck?!?! Now that would have been embarrassing!!! Hope the neighbors weren't watching. Sorry baby...hopefully no more tight squeezes!
Baby is the Size of a Pomegranate
(also a sneak peak from Lake Tahoe!)
New for baby this week? Has formed eyebrows and eyelids (although eyes are still closed), more distinct lips, developing taste buds, spends about 14 hours a day sleeping
Total weight gain/loss? I have gained 12 lbs. since my first appointment. OB is very happy with this. I am officially the heaviest I have ever been in my life and not looking back anytime soon :)
Sleep? Much better the past few days....except that I have aggravated my neck again. OB wants me staying off my back when I sleep now which I have already been trying to do.
Best moment this week? Seeing baby on ultrasound. We are so in love!
Miss Anything? Yoga pre baby. I can definitely tell there is baby in the way now and so many simple yoga moves are getting harder. I am considering starting to go to prenatal yoga classes instead so I can be surrounded by other pregos :)
Movement? Feeling something every day, often multiple times a day. Becoming much more noticeable.
Gender? Anyone have new guesses?! Joe reports our friend Megan says girl but she needs to see me in person :) Ultrasound made me suspicious of boy but I am not ready to commit until I start having dreams!
Looking forward to? Our trip to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. Probably our last vacation just the two of us.
